This article shows how easy it is to start using Central AP Management (APM) on the router, with both DrayOS (e.g. Vigor 2865) and Linux (e.g. Vigor 3900) Vigor routers.

Central AP Management (APM) is a management feature of DrayTek SMB routers. It provides a platform on the router for provisioning, configuring, monitoring, and maintaining multiple VigorAPs.

Central AP Management on DrayOS

The APM menu is under [Central Management]-[AP]-[Dashboard] or [APM]-[Status], Vigor router will automatically discover the VigorAP on LAN or on the remote site of VPN peer.

However, the router will use the default username and password (admin/admin) to manage the VigorAP. If you couldn’t get the AP status online and APM shows the [Warn: Unauthorized] below the device name, it might be that the administration password of the AP changed, so the router does not have access to the AP management. Please click the Password button and enter the current admin password of AP, or reset the AP to factory default.

Block Management Of Remote VigorAP - Over VPN

APM also works across VPN, and in the default settings, the router will also discover the VigorAP on the remote network and show them on AP list. But the number of AP can be managed is limited, or if you don't want the remote router manages your AP, we can input the command vpn passAPM off via CLI to block the APM data.

From the Dashboard, you can see the VigorAPs which have been registered to APM and additional information.

Troubleshooting

If the APM does not list any AP on the Dashboard page, please change the VigorAP to the default username and password (admin/admin), or create a WLAN profile which used the same username and password as VigorAP

NOTE: Vigor3900 APM uses TR-069, the router will need to provision the TR-069 setting to VigorAP to make them register to APM, and this action needs the correct username and password.
