BT Digital Voice was created by xane
I've received a BT Smart Hub 2 in preparation for the move to BT Digital Voice (VoIP), is there any way BT's VoIP can be implemented without using the Smart Hub, I have a Draytek 2865ax.
TIA

Hi xane,
For simplisity you'd need one of Drayteks V model routers (i.e. 2865Vac or 2866Vac) which have 2 analogue ports on them that you can connect to after you've entered the necessary VoIP SIP settings. V routers will automatically open any ports required.
Your only other way would be to splash some cash on a Yealink or similar IP phone:-
Again you'll need to enter BT's VoIP SIP settings to the phone and open ports on your router to allow incoming calls to work.

Sadly, no.
BT make it effectively impossible to use a different router with digital voice.
Either get a VoIP service from someone else or use their router.
If you search you will find notes on putting BT’s router behind another device but it’s not easy.

If you can manage to get the SIP details out of BT, you could use an ATA behind the Draytek, or an actual VOIP phone. However, although I have no experience trying this, from what I have read (and above post) this is usually impossible.

If you want to have a go at using the BT DV router behind another, have a read of this:

I chose the words "effectively impossible" carefully!
Getting a VoIP service from someone else seems a better bet.

Wow that's seriously obfuscated! Thank goodness I chose a different provider for my DV service.
In light of this I'll revise my advice to xane as follows "Don't bother - instead port your number to a more traditional VoIP provider"
John.
