Reliability and support - a race downhill. was created by amadeus
I have a 3912s router and a PQ2200xb PoE switch, bought a few days before Christmas last year.
Both (!) have developed hardware faults and need to be RMA'd - this means sending them back to Taiwan for repair. I didn't buy VigorCare and that has to be bought within 6 months of purchase and support will not budge on that (I said I'd be happy to buy it if it could be applied to me products). I reckon I'll be without router and switch for optimistically 4 weeks but I expect it could be double that.
So, if you don't have any other alternative equipment, you might want to buy VigorCare. If you're past the 6 month warranty, keep your fingers crossed.
Despite it being just outside the 6 month limit, I'd have thought that 2 of their top end products failing just after 6 months would warrant a bit of flexibility.
I don't think I'll be buying a Draytek product as my stop-gap product.

Just looking unless you can prove the device has a fault from day one or these are known issues there isn't a lot you can do.

I’m a private individual. I guess they may have been more concerned if I was a business but then arguably a business would have an alternative in place or at least be less concerned about a few hundred pounds.
Indeed, I think I’d be hard pushed to show these issues existed at purchase time; I think by the declaration by support that they were both hardware failures precludes that as an option.
It is what it is but certainly this customer feels a bit short-changed, rightly or wrongly.

3912s returned; new (to me) device. No communication other than a piece of paper taped to it saying "Faulty device replaced".
It does seem to work now.
(literally) just reviced a message from DPD saying they're expecting a parcel for me from Draytek; I expect that's my PQ2200xb so should be delivered tomorrow. I'll report back here what I receive.
Both these turnaround times imply that the devices didn't get sent to Taiwan as I'd been told.
