Old Vigor 2830 Router - 'No Internet' issue on Dell Laptop - Help! was created by Conor McKay
Hi Guys,
Fairly new to the networking game. I have an old vigor 2830 single band wireless router that I have configured for an FTTP service on WAN2 - PPPoE and on BT
Router works fine and all devices in my house are connected and have internet connection except for my dell laptop (running windows 10 pro x64).
It connected at first and then after a short while it drops the internet connection - Shows as 'No Internet, Secured' in the 'available networks' on windows.
I thought it was an encryption issue so I tried playing about with the encryption settings and ended up doing a hard factory reset and reconfiguring the router and it worked again - until..next time I start up the laptop its lost the internet connection - AGAIN.
Its getting an IP address (192,168.1.11) which was DHCP allocated - ive tried setting up on static and the issue prevails.
I've logged into the router again and changed the SSID and after connecting to the NEW SSID - Voila! I had an internet connection again.. for a few minutes then the same issue again No Internet.
The wifi card in the laptop is fine because it works on every other network i connet to outside of home and also my smartphone hotspot
Does anyone know what could be causing this - router faulty? The router is on the latest available firmware also
Can someone please help with this?~Thanks guys!
