Testing VPN Connection

Hi
I have two offices and have DrayTek 2820 router at each office.
I have setup VPN at both routers, so they can talk through router.
I would like to test this VPN connection.
What the best way to test VPN connection.

Please can someone help me.

ping hosts on the protected networks does they reply?
Transfer data from hosts over the VPN - does it work.
Check connection management are they up?
