Got a very odd issue on a poor quality or just slow DSL line. The ISP provided a Technicolor router and the PPPoE settings work fine on that. We bought a Vigor 166 so that we can use the bridge mode function. Was struggling to get that to work so tested the router just connected direct to the ISPs line in router mode. The PPPoE settings are correct but the Vigor refuses to connect. I've asked the ISP and they claim they are doing no blocking and that we're welcome to use our own modem but they provide no support if it can't connect. I've updated the Vigor to the latest firmware and noticed the past one fixed:
PPPoE dial-up failure when the server provided user-specific PPPoE tags in the PADO packet
But makes no difference. Even with the latest firmware its still not connecting despite the PPPoE settings being correct.
I'm trying to get the ISP to give me more details on the line but they aren't helping. Given me the PPPoE settings and that's all.
Wondering if there are any console commands on the vigor that could give an indication on why it can't connect?
