Draytek 2928 - Unreliable compared to previous model was created by TS
Hello
Am slowly losing faith in Draytek products, their new OS on the 2928 is missing so many features including basic features that simply don't work.
SMTP Notifications - Will not work whatsoever tried various SMTP servers but will not take my settings
Site to Site VPN - Weirdly the connection drops every hour on the hour, settings set exactly the same as other Drayteks all pointing to the same VPN server for the other sites.
Internet stability - Connection keeps dropping randomly, spoken with ISP and points to router.
This product isn't fit for market, speaking with supplier on returning the product. Reverted to a 2927 that is now setup and does everything I ask of it.
Anyone else experiencing similar behaviour with the 2928?

And it's been on the market how long exactly? Nothing's ever perfect on the initial release - so maybe you're just expecting too much from the 'release' firmware.
You could try the next release candidate from here:-
https://i-lan.net.au/downloads/Vigor2928/Firmware/V542RC2/
However, I've been using a 2136ax for a good while now - same basic OS as your 2928.
No issues with SMTP notifications - this just works, not sure what you could be getting wrong really. Maybe worth providing a screenshot of settings - redacted where appropriate ?
Site-to-site VPN (IPSec in my case) - again no actual issues other than the aforementioned notifications telling me it's dropped every 3 or 4 days - whereas the GUI interfaces at both ends (2136ax - 2866Lac) report uninterrupted uptime. So it's seeing 'something' and maybe interpreting it incorrectly.
Internet stability - No issues whatsoever.
I fully intend moving to a 2928 just as soon as the wifi equipped one become available.

Expecting too much! Lol
When a 2927 I have just dropped in this morning in replacement of the 2928 actually does what I ask of it. How can I be asking too much of it!

You're not expecting too much of it.
But you're expecting a brand new product, with a relatively new OS, to perform like an older one with a very mature OS that - even on your 2927 - has had nearly 6 years of development.
It'll be at parity once they've had a few months of issues to deal with I'm sure.
