2865ac upgrade options ... was created by John
I have a 2865ac with two AP912c units. The performance is currently more than adequate except for one thing.  Video streaming when connected to the 2865ac is laggy and I often get the spinning circle on Amazon Prime or sometimes even a ‘not enough bandwidth’ message.Streaming on a device connect to the 2865ac via Ethernet works fine.  So does streaming when connected to the APs. I’ve just been down the blind alley of trying upgrades.  I tried and rejected a 2767ax on grounds of laggy UI and lack of diagnostics.  I’ve also tested 926 model APs but these lack the Ethernet cable covering of AP912s which makes them visually unacceptable to me – although I did like the simple and responsive UI.I’m reluctant to get a significantly upgraded router since such models omit VDSL ports – with the possible exception of the new 2867BE.In the short term, I’m wondering whether picking up a second hand 2866ac would help.  Does anyone know whether the 2866ac has better WiFi performance than the 2865ac?

The AC chipset used in that model router (and most others of the same timeframe) is just exceptionally weak in many areas. If you want it all to work fine just ditch it for an AX model (any of them).

Just be aware that if you do use mesh it won't work with a mix of AC/AX devices.

Thanks Ian

As if happens, I changed the APs from Mesh to AP mode and observed no difference in client connection experience.

Will have a look for an "ax"

thanks
