AP905 vs AP906 was created by oviano
The new AP905 seems to be pretty much the same spec as the AP906, does it replace it?
it’s a shame they didn’t release a new AP with WiFi 7 instead of what seems like an identical but aesthetically different AP with WiFi 6 again.
Or maybe I’ve missed something,

If you look at the mesh compatibility chart you’ll see it’s very different; I’ve been told the limitations of the 906 are down to the hardware so I guess the internals have changed.

Thanks, I can't seem to find that chart though.
This one doesn't list the 905:

I have a 2865ax and a AP906 in a mesh setup at home. Since new both have been a nightmare irrespective of the firmware loaded. The 2865ax would reboot at least once or twice a day and the AP906 would also reboot or lose its mesh connection and then take 45 minutes to reconnect. After spending a lot of time over the last few months trying to resolve it, replacing firmware and replacement power supplies and the like. I was going to drag my 2860ac and AP903 out of the loft, then I saw the adverts for the AP905, so since it was reasonably priced I decided to purchase one.
I plugged it in straight out of the box. The mesh Discovery recognised it despite being configured for a different LAN. It updated the device as a node and synced it, all I did extra was to set a fixed IP address and give it a name. I then put it in the same location as the AP906 and turned off the AP906.
The result has been that the 2865ax has not rebooted since the AP905 was connected and neither has AP905. That is what I call a result. The AP905 interface is not that well developed as the AP906 and the 2865ax cannot drill down the connected clients from the devices view. Though on the plus side it works, is about the same size as the AP/902/903, you can fit high gain antennas to it and I am getting a lot better range on both bands than I was on the AP906.

I had the same thought that it was more a less the same spec.
I would like to know why the 905 is significantly cheaper than the 906, it's half the price.
I had some issues with the first one that I configured, the interface is little different and has some bugs. For example, if you change the LAN IP, it says it has completed without a reboot prompt, in fact it needs a reboot.
Also the out of the box 5ghz wifi channel selection was set to one that is not allowed in the UK. I'll grab some screenshots in my next setup.
