Problems using 2927AX and central management to manage AP906 in AP mode was created by joncc4
Have multiple AP906 dotted around building each hardwired back to Switch via LAN port on AP. The switch is hardwired to a 2927AX.
I am trying to get the AP Central management on the 2927AX to manage the multiple AP906 however they seem to appear on the list as RED OFFLINE despite being able to click on the device and enter the device via the web management ports. Entering the passwords against the listed devices do not make any difference and at no point do the AP show as online.
All the AP906 are configured with the same SSID on 2.4g and 5g and only the channel differs between the AP906. The same SSID exist on the 2927AX again with the same settings with exception of the channels assigned.
The devices roam as expected between all the AP906 and even onto the 2927AX but for some reason they simply will not allow central management.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated as central management feature was primary reason for upgrading to the 2927AX router.

Worth mentioning that the AP management has been enabled on the AP906 along with the 2927AX.

I have now noticed that the AP906 are all appearing under the external devices section in the Central management. Some of these AP are directly connected to the 2927 and all are static IP on the same subnet as the 2927 so completely confused as to what is going on.

I assume that you have the operation mode of the 906's set as AP and not Mesh?
I have a similar config and have no issue switching between a setup in which all the 906's are in AP mode and can be configured via the WLAN Profile in AP management, or an alternative setup in which the 2927ax is the mesh root and all the 906's are set as nodes - in this case of course the configuration goes via mesh sync instead of WLAN Profile. In both setups all the APs appear in the external devices list, but in Mesh mode there are none in the "AP Dashboard" and "Status" pages.
In "AP Management" mode I only use 1 WLAN Profile - so all devices are on the same channels. I guess you'd need several profiles if you want different channels on different devices.
In Mesh mode there is no choice - all devices get set to the same channels. I don't have any problem with this in either scenario.
There's also this:-
and finally, you say "but for some reason they simply will not allow central management." but you have configured the AP's already so what "management" are you looking for?

There's also this:-
- When AP Devices connect via an intermediary switch, please ensure that UDP:4944 port and the HTTP port of AP Devices are not blocked so that the AP status can be retrieved.

Since you have not returned to this thread do we take it that your AP906's are no longer "refusing" to be centrally managed? The fact that they appear in the External Devices list simply means that the router can see them on the network; the "management" part comes from the use of profiles....

Thanks for info. I can indeed remote admin these devices from the external devices list. I was expecting to be able to roll out a profile of common settings to devices and maintain unique parameters...ie. channels. to aid admin, but this does not look possible.
