Captive Portal and HotSpot AP905/906 was created by Mike
Hi,
I want to setup a semi-public wifi. Understand the concept of using captive portal etc.
I was intending to use AP905 - but that doesn;t seem to support Hostspot/captive portal - is that correct ?
If I can't use that then it will have to be AP906 - bit of a shame since it is slightly less featured than the 905.
Does anyone know where these is some good documentation on how to work with Draytek and Captive portals ?
I would quite like to build my own portal, so would need information on what to return to the AP to complete the authorisation.
ALL info welcomed

Look carefully at the mesh compatibility of the AP906 - if you have an AP906 as your root node, you can only have AP906 devices in your mesh.

It seems that the AP906 is an EOL device; it's had a couple of firmware updates recently but before that, very few. I've got 4 of these devices and they've caused me a lot of frustration with unreliability (myriad) and missing features (bonjour/mdns not propogating between devices).
When it works, it's fine but I've spent more time than I'd like playing whack-a-mole when they decide to play up, often when we want them to "just work".
But... I'd love to hear your experiences doing your project. It sounds like a pet project as opposed to a must-have requirement?
